About NYS
The National Youth Service (NYS) was established by an Act of Parliament (Cap 208 Laws of Kenya) in April, 1964 as a disciplined Service charged with the responsibility to train young men and women to serve the nation in tasks of national importance. In 2013 however, the Government began restructuring NYS with a view of increasing Youth Participation in National Development. Thus, the New NYS was launched in September 2014 with an expanded mandate under the 5 Point Vision.
